Mizoram Observes 37th Remni Ni

Aizawl, 30 June (Zoram News): Mizoram celebrated Remna Ni (Peace Day) with various events held across the state. The main celebration held at Vanapa Hall in Aizawl was graced by Chief Minister Pu Zoramthanga as a Chief Guest.

Chief Minister Pu Zoramthanga highlighted the significance of youth in shaping Mizoram's future and emphasized the importance of youth involvement in nation-building. He mentioned that Mizoram was an excluded area, not included in India's plans during the country's independence from British rule. Despite facing challenges, the people of Mizoram have made significant progress and contributed to the development of the state. The Chief Minister acknowledged the unique historical and political circumstances that have shaped Mizoram's journey.

While addressing the gathering, he expressed his gratitude to the church, political parties, civil society organizations, and the people for their collective efforts in nurturing the spirit of youth and promoting peace and harmony in Mizoram. He acknowledged that although challenges exist, the spirit of the youth remains strong and resilient.

Chief Secretary Dr. Renu Sharma also shared her thoughts on the occasion, emphasizing the importance of youth empowerment and their role in driving Mizoram's progress. She highlighted the need to address youth-related issues, provide opportunities for skill development, and create an enabling environment for their growth.

Rev. Lianhmingthanga Sailo, a member of the Mizoram Kohhran Hruaitute Committee (MKHC), shared insights on the significance of youth and the role of churches and society in guiding and supporting them. He emphasized that while youth face many challenges, they also possess immense potential and should be encouraged to contribute positively to society.

Chairman of the NGO Coordination Committee, Pu R. Lalngheta, discussed the importance of engaging youth in meaningful activities and providing platforms for their voices to be heard. He highlighted the need for collective efforts from various stakeholders, including the government, law enforcement agencies, and civil society organizations, to address the aspirations and concerns of the youth effectively.

As part of the Youth Day celebrations, several competitions and events were organized. The winners of various competitions, including short video making, digital flyer making, painting, high school quiz, and essay competitions, were announced and awarded.

Chief Minister Pu Zoramthanga expressed his appreciation for the participants and congratulated the winners. He stated that the celebrations of Remna Ni symbolize the acknowledgment of the youth's importance and their potential in shaping Mizoram's future. He urged everyone to continue supporting and encouraging the youth in their endeavors.
