Azawl, July 4, 2023 (Zoram News): Joint Hnampual Students' Organisation (Mizoram), comprising various student groups, including Lai Students Association, Mara Students' Organisation, Siamsinpawlpi, Mizoram Bawm Student Association, Hmar Students' Association, Ranglong Students' Union, and Pang Zirlai Pawl, expresses deep sorrow and anguish over the sufferings faced by the Zofa community at the hands of the majority Meitei community in Manipur.

Joint Hnampual Students' Organisation (Mizoram), comprising various student groups, including Lai Students Association, Mara Students' Organisation, Siamsinpawlpi, Mizoram Bawm Student Association, Hmar Students' Association, Ranglong Students' Union, and Pang Zirlai Pawl, expresses deep sorrow and anguish over the sufferings faced by the Zofa community at the hands of the majority Meitei community in Manipur.
The organization strongly condemns the brutal acts of killing, particularly of children, women, and innocent individuals, which they deem as beyond comprehension even during the darkest period of World War II. They assert that this represents a meticulously planned ethnic cleansing campaign perpetrated by the Meitei community and the ruling establishment.

Of particular concern is the deplorable incident that occurred on July 2, 2023, where an innocent member of their community, David Thiek, was captured alive, subjected to torture, killed, and horrifically mutilated by Meitei terrorists. His remains were then burned, exhibiting a truly demonic nature.

While Manipur, an integral part of India, has been engulfed in unrest for over 60 days, the Joint Hnampual Students' Organisation (Mizoram) expresses surprise and disappointment over the conspicuous silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They interpret this silence as a disregard for their region's status as part of India.

In light of the immense suffering endured by their people, the organization urges the Mizoram Government to take concrete steps to alleviate their pain and actively engage in fulfilling their political aspirations. They also demand the imposition of President's Rule by the Government of India, highlighting the failure of the existing government machinery in handling the crisis in Manipur and the resulting sense of insecurity among minority communities.

The organization stresses that the Meitei community residing in Mizoram enjoys peace and security, unaffected by the turmoil faced by their brothers and sisters in Manipur. They call upon the Meitei community in Mizoram to sincerely contribute towards easing the suffering of the people in Manipur. The Joint Hnampual Students' Organisation (Mizoram) pledges to vigilantly monitor the situation and take any necessary measures to address the evolving demands of the circumstances.
