Aizawl, 27 Sept (Zoram News): In a significant initiative aimed at nurturing young football talent and steering them away from potential pitfalls like drug abuse, Assam Rifles, under the leadership of Major General Vinod Kumar Nambiar, YSM, SM, Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), joined forces with the Mizoram Football Association (MFA) to kickstart a grassroots football program.
Under this new partnership, the MFA will leverage its technical expertise to mentor young football enthusiasts, while Assam Rifles will provide essential administrative support. Major General Vinod Kumar Nambiar inaugurated the training program by ceremoniously kicking off the ball. The event was attended by Tetea Hmar, Honorary Secretary of MFA, Brigadier Girish Upadhya, SM**, VSM, DIG, 23 Sector Assam Rifles, Mr. K Lalenghluna, and several esteemed dignitaries from the civil sector, Mizoram Football Association, and Assam Rifles.
Capt Renga (Retd), addressing the audience, emphasized the program's focus on identifying and nurturing talent at a young age, targeting children between 6 to 14 years old. The program utilizes cutting-edge scientific training techniques to hone the skills of these young athletes. He extended heartfelt gratitude to Assam Rifles for their invaluable assistance in this noble endeavor.
