Officials discuss the promotion of organic farming in Mizoram

Aizawl, 16 March(Zoram News) : A meeting was held today at the office of Agriculture and Cooperation Minister, Pu C. Lalrinsanga, where discussions centered around the promotion of organic farming. The Minister emphasized that organic farming is not just about avoiding chemical fertilizers, but also utilizing manures that are free from harmful chemicals.

The meeting was attended by officials from Mizoram Cooperative Societies and Cooperatives, Agriculture Department, and Horticulture Department. Cooperation Secretary, Dr. Lalrozama, IAS, highlighted the significance of forming a Coordination Committee to assess data on organic farming activities in Mizoram and devise future plans accordingly.

It was also emphasized that the success of organic farming in the state is dependent on the participation of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) under the Mizoram Apex Handloom and Handicrafts Cooperative Society Ltd (MAHFED). The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to promoting organic farming and sustainable agriculture in Mizoram.
