Aizawl, 14 Dec (Zoram News): In a significant address Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati laid out the roadmap for Mizoram's future during the First Session of the Ninth Mizoram Legislative Assembly. The Governor emphasized the commitment of the new ministry to bring about change, growth, and development in the state.

Commencing his speech with congratulations to the people of Mizoram for their enthusiastic participation in the recently concluded General Election on November 7, 2023, Governor Kambhampati commended the impressive voter turnout of 80.43%, highlighting the deep engagement of the Mizoram population in the democratic process.

Extending warm greetings to the newly elected members of the Assembly, especially the 23 representatives who joined for the first time, the Governor noted the historic achievement of electing three women MLAs from different parts of the state, a first in Mizoram's legislative history. He expressed optimism that this milestone would positively impact the lives of women throughout Mizoram.

Acknowledging the success of the free and fair election, Governor Kambhampati credited the efforts of the bureaucracy, law enforcement agencies, civil society, NGOs, and churches, with special mention of the Mizoram People’s Forum (MPF), for their dedicated contributions.

The Governor introduced seven key areas of focus for his government over the next five years:

1. Responsible and responsive administration: Guided by principles of good governance and accountability.
2. Steady and sustainable development: Across all sectors.
3. Support for industry: Providing necessary backing and encouragement.
4. Social security and equity: Ensuring access for all.
5. Youth welfare and development: Prioritizing the needs of the younger generation.
6. Environmental protection: Commitment to safeguarding the environment.
7. Long-term developmental projects: With transformative outcomes.

Governor Kambhampati emphasized that these areas of thrust represent the people's collective desire for a new system, 'Kalphung Thar,' reflecting their firm conviction in the democratic process of change.
