Mizoram launches pilot community intervention to strengthen health systems
MHSSP, funded by the World Bank and implemented by the Health and Family Welfare Department, aims to improve healthcare quality and access in Mizoram. The community intervention program is a crucial component of the project, engaging local communities in identifying and addressing their health needs. MHSSP will work with various organizations, including MzSRLM, MHIP, and VHSNC, to ensure effective implementation of the project.

The project will involve communication campaigns and demand-side interventions to raise awareness about health issues, such as tuberculosis, oral cancer, breast cancer, cervical cancer, and lung cancer. The pilot program will be conducted in Kolasib, Mamit, and Lawngtlai districts, focusing on self-help group models in Kolasib, MHIP models in Mamit, and Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Committee models in Lawngtlai.

The pilot intervention will be implemented in 56 villages across the three districts for six months. The success of the pilot program will determine the expansion of the program to other districts.

Master trainer and trainer training programs have been conducted to ensure the effective implementation of the project, including the development of training manuals, guidelines, and IEC materials.

During the launch, officials from the Health and Family Welfare Department discussed the project's objectives and implementation. The program will be attended by community members from the pilot districts through an online platform, providing an opportunity for them to share their experiences and provide feedback.
