Mizoram beat Kerela in Hockey India Sub Junior Women National Championship 2023

Aizawl, 8 May (Zoram News): The 13th edition of the Hockey India Sub Junior Women National Championship 2023 is in full swing at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela, Odisha. The tournament, which began on May 7, has already witnessed some exciting matches, with Hockey Mizoram, Hockey Punjab, Hockey Andhra Pradesh, Hockey Chandigarh, and Hockey Bihar emerging victorious in their respective games.

Hockey Mizoram beat Kerala Hockey 4-2, while Hockey Association of Odisha won big with a 9-0 victory over Hockey Rajasthan. Laldinpuii was the star for Hockey Mizoram, scoring all four goals against Kerala Hockey, while Shanusha P M and Gowrinandana V S managed to score one goal each for Kerala Hockey.

The 11-day tournament has a total of 28 teams vying for top honours, divided into eight pools. The final will take place on May 14, 2023, and all matches will be held at the world-class Birsa Munda Hockey stadium.

The Quarter-Finals will take place on May 11, 2023, after seven days of pool matches, while the Semi-Finals will be played on May 13, 2023. The Medal matches are scheduled for May 14, 2022. Teams in Pool A include Hockey Haryana, Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu and Tripura Hockey, while Pool B has Hockey Jharkhand, Hockey Bengal, and Hockey Uttrakhand. Pool C consists of Uttar Pradesh Hockey, Chhattisgarh Hockey, and Delhi Hockey, while Pool D has Hockey Madhya Pradesh, Assam Hockey, and Hockey Himachal.

Hockey Mizoram, Hockey Association of Odisha, Kerala Hockey, and Hockey Rajasthan are in Pool E, while Hockey Punjab, Manipur Hockey, Gujarat Hockey, and Hockey Andhra Pradesh are in Pool F. In Pool G, Hockey Chandigarh, Hockey Bihar, Telangana Hockey, and Goans Hockey are grouped together, while in Pool H, Hockey Maharashtra, Hockey Karnataka, Le Puducherry Hockey, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu Hockey will battle it out.
