District Election Office organizes Vohbik Kutpui with focus on disability welfare

Aizawl, 27 April (Zoram News):  District Election Office in Aizawl organized a 'Vohbik Kutpui' event today at AR Lammual, where the Social Welfare Minister, Er. Lalrinawma, attended as the chief guest and inaugurated the event. Pi Chhingpuii, who is known for her efforts in promoting the rights of persons with disabilities, was felicitated at the event.

During the event, the Minister emphasized the importance of voting and how it is not only a right but also a responsibility towards the nation. He also spoke about the challenges faced by people with disabilities in exercising their right to vote and how the government is working towards making the voting process more inclusive for them.

Pi Chhingpuii, who has been awarded the 'State Award for the Welfare of Persons with Disabilities', shared her experiences and struggles as a person with a disability and highlighted the need for more awareness and inclusion in society.

The event also witnessed various performances by students from special schools, such as Epatha Special School, Shining Star School, Gilead Special School, Special Blind School, Redeem Garden, and Rephedim Home, who showcased their talents in music, recitation, and other activities.

Overall, the event served as a platform for raising awareness about the rights and needs of persons with disabilities and promoting inclusivity in the electoral process.
