Shri Devusinh Chauhan held Review Meeting with communications department

Aizawl, 20 Feb (Zoram News): Union Minister of State for Communications Shri Devusinh Chauhan yesterday held a review meeting with officials of Department of Telecommunications, Department of Posts and BSNL at Chief Secretary Conference Hall, MINECO.

Pu Devusinh Chauhan said that ICT is playing an important role in states like Mizoram where agriculture and manufacturing are not available, he urge DoT and BSNL to be more more proactive. Speaking on the Post Office, he said that India Posts Payment Bank (APB) should take steps to reach out to the public.

Department of Telecommunications, Department of Posts and BSNL officials and representatives presented power point presentations on Mizoram's overall situation, their work and services provided to the public They presented their achievements, challenges and challenges. DoT officials also discussed the Rs 50 billion project being implemented through the ICT Department to improve internet connectivity in Mizoram district towns and block villages under the Central Assistance to States for Capital Expenditure.

Mizoram has 1 Head Post Office, 4 Sub Postal Divisions and 387 Post Offices and Branch Post Offices. According to the DoP, Mizoram Post Offices have performed better than other North East states except Assam. According to the DoT, 724 out of 877 villages in Mizoram have been covered by mobile services and related services. BSNL is planning to provide 4G service to 181 villages (including 24 army outposts) through the 4G Saturation Project.
