Mizoram likely to have two elevated football grounds

Aizawl, 4 March 2020 (Zoram News):  The Mizoram government is planning to construct  two elevated football Fields in Aizawl, state sports minister Robert Romawia Royte told the state legislature on Monday'.

He said that the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has approved in principle the construction of two elevated football grounds to improve sports infrastructure in the state.

The projects have been delayed as residents of the localities where thev are intended to construct have opposed to them he said. "Though the projects
are initially proposed to be constructed at high school field at Zarkawt and Chaltlang area, the government has proposed new plan as residents opposed to the projects to be constructed at their areas;' he said.

He said that Rs 40 crore has been allocated for the proposed projecets, which will be diverted to other projects as per necessity.

"No measure in regard of the projects has been taken as of now," he said .
According to the minister, Ground Foor of the proposed elevated stadium will be used for parking lot while artificial turf will be laid at the first floor which will be used for football ground.
