PM Modi Extends Statehood Day Greetings to Mizoram, Highlights Cultural Strength and Strategic Role

Aizawl, 20 Feb (Zoram News): Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended warm greetings to the people of Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh on the occasion of their Statehood Day, underscoring both states’ strategic importance and rich cultural heritage.

In his message on February 20, marking the 39th anniversary of statehood for both states, the Prime Minister lauded Mizoram’s striking natural beauty, enduring cultural traditions and strong community spirit. He described the people of Mizoram as gracious and compassionate, whose rich heritage in tradition and music serves as an inspiration. Modi also expressed optimism for the state’s continued progress and achievement of new milestones in the years ahead. 

Mizoram attained full statehood on February 20, 1987, becoming the 23rd state of India after functioning as a Union Territory. The day is observed annually to commemorate its formal recognition within India’s federal framework.

The Prime Minister’s greetings celebrated Mizoram’s cultural richness and social harmony while also appreciating its role in strengthening the broader unity and development of the nation.
