Mizoram Marks 39th Statehood Day With Prayers Across the State

Aizawl, 20 Feb (Zoram News): The people of Mizoram observed the 39th anniversary of Statehood Day on Friday with prayer services and spiritual ceremonies held across the state, reflecting on nearly four decades of peace, unity and progress since attaining full statehood in 1987.

Communities, churches and institutions throughout Mizoram organised prayer gatherings that focused on unity, peace and development, embodying the collective aspirations of the state’s residents. The observance underscores the deep cultural and spiritual roots in Mizoram’s society, where prayer and collective reflection remain central to public celebrations. Mizoram became the 23rd state of the Indian Union on February 20, 1987, following years of conflict and the signing of the Mizoram Peace Accord in 1986, an event that ushered in an era of peace and democratic governance.
