Aizawl, 20 Feb (Zoram News): The people of Mizoram observed the 39th anniversary of Statehood Day on Friday with prayer services and spiritual ceremonies held across the state, reflecting on nearly four decades of peace, unity and progress since attaining full statehood in 1987.
The observance underscores the deep cultural and spiritual roots in Mizoram’s society, where prayer and collective reflection remain central to public celebrations. The day also offered an occasion for citizens to remember the state’s journey of transformation and reaffirm commitment to its future ambitions.
Mizoram became the 23rd state of the Indian Union on February 20, 1987, following years of conflict and the signing of the Mizoram Peace Accord in 1986, an event that ushered in an era of peace and democratic governance.
