Assam Rifles Conducts Massive Search and Rescue Operation in Aizawl After Cyclone Remal

Aizawl,5 June (Zoram News):  In the aftermath of Cyclone Remal, which triggered severe landslides causing multiple casualties and widespread destruction in Melthum, Aizawl, the 2 Assam Rifles, under the command of 23 Sector AR, launched a massive search and rescue operation. The cyclone's devastating impact prompted an immediate response from Assam Rifles and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).

A dedicated column, led by Major Pradeep Chaudhary of 2 Assam Rifles, was swiftly deployed to the disaster zone. The team comprised one officer, four junior commissioned officers, and 54 other ranks. Together with NDRF personnel, they successfully recovered three bodies from the debris.

In addition to the search and rescue efforts, the Assam Rifles provided crucial medical assistance to those affected by the disaster. The medical team, headed by Assistant Commandant Kirthiga M, the ARMO, worked tirelessly to treat the injured and offer much-needed care to the victims.

Demonstrating their unwavering commitment to the civilian community, Assam Rifles also extended administrative assistance, including the distribution of food, to over 1500 affected individuals. This comprehensive support provided sustenance and relief to those grappling with the cyclone's aftermath.

The combined efforts of Assam Rifles and NDRF underscore their dedication to serving the nation and protecting its people during times of crisis. Their swift and effective response has been instrumental in mitigating the disaster's impact and aiding the recovery process for the affected communities.
