Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police foils attempted weapon procurement

Aizawl, 6 June (Zoram News): In a significant operation aimed at curbing anti-national activities, Assam Rifles, in collaboration with local police, apprehended three individuals in Bungtlang on July 4, 2023.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the combined team successfully carried out the operation. According to reliable sources, the arrested individuals had recently traveled to Myanmar with the intention of acquiring weapons and ammunition.

However, their attempts to secure a deal proved unsuccessful. Consequently, they returned to India carrying approximately Rs 5 lakhs in cash, hoping to explore alternative options to pursue their objectives.

The accused, along with the recovered cash, were subsequently handed over to the Bungtlang Police Station on July 5, 2023, to commence further legal proceedings in accordance with the law. The successful operation signifies a crucial step towards combating illicit activities and safeguarding national security.
