Assam Rifles conducted Lecture on World Heritage Day

Aizawl, 18 April (Zoram News) A lecture was conducted by Aizawl Battalion on World Heritage Day at four different locations - Zokhawsang, New Vaikhawtlang, Mimbung, and Ngopa Company Operating Base. The event, which took place on April 18, 2023, was attended by 54 civilians.

The Aizawl Battalion, under the aegis of Headquarter 23 Sector Assam Rifles and Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), organized the lecture to raise awareness about preserving historical monuments and taking pride in our heritage. 

World Heritage Day, also known as International Monuments and Sites day, is observed annually on April 18 and celebrates the work carried out by International Council on Monuments and Sites.

During the lecture, it was emphasized that Mizoram is blessed with a rich cultural heritage, including vibrant traditional dances and unique bamboo craft and handicraft. The attendees were encouraged to support local artisans and craft people by buying their products and participating in cultural events and festivals. 

Additionally, the lecture stressed the importance of taking care of heritage sites under the banner of "Swach Bharat Abhiyan" by not littering, not defacing or damaging them, and by reporting any suspicious activities to the authorities.
