Thazuala win All India Ranking Badminton Tournament 2023

Aizawl, 26 Feb (Zoram News):  H. Lalthazuala a Mizo player, beat his opponent in the final of the All India Sub-Junior Ranking Badminton Tournament 2023 and clinched the trophy. The tournament was started on February 5 in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

1558 shuttlers from various parts of India participated in the tournament. Lalthazuala s/o H. Zohmangaiha, Chanmari West, Ralte Villa Badminton Club, Chanmari West, who is playing for Ralte Villa Badminton Club, beat his seeded players in the Under-17 Boy's Singles final. In the quarterfinals, he defeated No. 2 seed Ronak Chauhan in straight sets, 21-19, 21-10. In the semi-finals, he defeated eighth-seeded Radjev Tomar in straight sets, 21-19, 21-12.

In the Under-15 Boy's Doubles category, Malsawmhlua s/o Albert Lalnunhlima, Serchhip, Ralte Villa Badminton Club player, and his partner Mahendra Kalahasthi, from Andhra Pradesh reached the final.

Lalramsanga, Durtlang and Lalrempuii, Serchhip reached the quarterfinals in the under-17 Mixed Doubles category. Sainunmawia, Ramhlun Venglai and his partner Aanya Bisht reached the quarterfinals in the under-17 mixed doubles category.

The Mizo children are selected to continue their training at Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy and ITM University Badminton Academy, Raipur. PGBA and ITM University tuition fees are covered by TATA Trusts. MBA thanked TATA Trusts and all those who have spent their money, energy and resources to promote badminton in Mizoram.
