Zoramthanga to present state budget on February 13

Aizawl, 26 Jan (Zoram News): Mizoram CM Zoramthanga, who holds the finance portfolio, will present the budget for the next financial year (2023-24) in the assembly on February 13.

Speaker Lalrinliana Sailo said as decided by the business advisory committee (BAC) of the state legislature on Wednesday, February 13 has been allotted for the presentation of the annual budget while the election of the deputy speaker will be held on February 8, the second day of the budget session.

The election was necessitated by the resignation of Lalrinawma as deputy speaker on December 15 and he being sworn-in as a cabinet minister on December 20, along with three ministers of state.

Lalrinawma quit following the resignation of the minister of state for excise and narcotics, K Beichhua, from the membership of the council of ministers. The budget session will commence on February 7 and will continue until February 28, officials said.
