Legal Awareness campaign for Myanmar refugees Lunglei

Lunglei, 12 March (zoramnews): District Level Committee on Myanmar Refugees Lunglei District organized a Legal Awareness Campaign for Myanmar Refugees within Lunglei District at DC's Conference Hall, Lunglei yesterday.

The function was attended by Kulothungan A, Deputy Commissioner of Lunglei District as a Chief Guest. At the Legal Awareness Campaign presided over by K. Lalrohlua, Addl. DC, Nodal Officer for Myanmar Refugees, Lunglei, Kulothungan A said he appreciates organizing legal awareness campaigns for Myanmar refugees.

The Deputy Commissioner said there are 8 Refugee Camp in Lunglei district. There are also 2007 refugees in Lunglei district. As the central government does not accept refugees, taking a step is difficult, Kulothungan A said. Meanwhile, the Government of Mizoram does the best for the Myanmar refugees, he added.
The Deputy Commissioner asked the refugees not to interfere with various crimes but to follow the mainstream and to be fruitful persons for the country. More legal awareness are to be given in various camps, the Deputy Commissioner said.

Malsawmdawngliana, Asst. Public Prosecutor, District Court, Lunglei and Zonghinga, PI, Prosecution Branch, Lunglei highlighted various acts of India like ND&PS Act, IPC, JJ Act, MLTP Act, Foreigner Act.

The campaign was attended by representatives of the Village Level Committee on Myanmar Refugees, one refugee each from Village Council and representatives of Chin Welfare Committee.
