Aizawl, Jan 11: A 32 year old man was arrested for allegedly attempting to rape a 13-year-old girl from Thingdawl village in Kolasib district, police said Monday.
The incident took place on last Friday, when the accused, identified as H. Vanlalhruaia, who was the resident of Thingdawl village, tried to persuade the girl on the pretext of buying eatable for her. The accused grabbed the girl and took her to certain place but she, somehow tried her best to fight back the miscreant and was rescued by neigbhours when they heard her scream, police said.
The accused was arrested by Kolasib police and was booked under POCSO Act and sent to district jail, police sources added.
