Aizawl, Jan 20: “Awareness Campaign cum Cultural Show” with the theme “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” was organized today at “Khaihra Memorial Hall” in New Colony, Siaha today.
Speaking on the occasion, Siaha District DC and the Chief Guest in the day R.Zarzosanga said that vigorous step is taken with the initiative of Health Department in the State and Health Ministry at the Centre to curb the high Infant Mortality Rate in Siaha District.
Underlining the importance of children in the society, he said that “Awareness” is most important. He also said that the physically challenged children should not be discriminated. The national programme “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” is launched due to the prevalence of discrimination of girl children in some parts of the country, R. Zarzosanga said.
Dr. HTC Lalrinchhana, Chief Judicial Magistrate, also spoke on the occasion and said that given the atrocity towards women is prohibited by the India Constitution. Any incident relating to the same should be reported soon to the authority, he said.
Andy Lalfakzual Varte, SDC & Co-ordinator, of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP), also spoke on “Child Sex Ratio” and pointed out to the much lower state of women while Dr. Joseph Dena spoke on nutrition of children during 0-6 years of age.
Aizawl Cultural Troupe and MTP Hqrs, Siaha performed cultural dances on the occasion.
