Aizawl, May 2 : Mizoram police special narcotic team stumbled upon a cache of arms and ammunitions in Phunchawng countryside on the western outskirts of the city on Wednesday midnight and arrested a habitual gunrunner.
After recovering four AK-47 rifles, 29 ammunitions and six magazines, the police arrested the alleged owner Lalhuapzauva, 45, a resident of Phunchawng locality. Police said Lalhuapzauva had been arrested with 19 AK-47 rifles in 2008.
Police said the arms and ammunition worth Rs 16 lakh were meant for Bru and Dimasa militants in Assam.
