Governor attends Signing of MOUs for Project Sentinel

Aizawl, 27 Sept (Zoram News): Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati graced a significant event at Assam Rifles Ground in Aizawl, where three key parties signed Memorandums of Understanding for Project 'Sentinel' – Centre of Educational Excellence, Skilling, and Wellness. This visionary project, a collaboration between Assam Rifles and the National Integrity & Educational Development Organisation (NIEDO), aims to secure a brighter future for Mizoram's youth.

Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati graced a significant event at Assam Rifles Ground in Aizawl, where three key parties signed Memorandums of Understanding for Project 'Sentinel' – Centre of Educational Excellence, Skilling, and Wellness. This visionary project, a collaboration between Assam Rifles and the National Integrity & Educational Development Organisation (NIEDO), aims to secure a brighter future for Mizoram's youth.
The MOUs were signed by representatives from 23 Sector Assam Rifles, NIEDO, and Axis Bank, with the Governor and Maj Gen VK Nambiar, YSM, SM, IGAR (East), Shri. Abhejit Agarwal, Senior Vice President & Head of Sustainability and CSR at Axis Bank, Dr. Rohit Srivastava, Chairman of NIEDO, and Brig Girish Upadhya SM, VSM, DIG 23 Sector Assam Rifles being the signatories.

Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati expressed his deep appreciation to Axis Bank and NIEDO for their invaluable support, which has enabled the realization of Assam Rifles' people-friendly initiatives in the state. He envisioned that this initiative would open doors to quality education through specialized mentorship and nurture the talents of Mizoram's youth. He emphasized that this project represents a significant step towards building a secure Mizoram, fostering prosperity in the Northeast, and promoting a peaceful nation.

The Governor was delighted that this groundbreaking partnership would empower deserving students to excel in various fields. He also expressed hope that this initiative would set a precedent for future collaborations, promising to uplift the relatively disadvantaged sections of society.

Project 'Sentinel' is a full-time residential program designed to mentor thirty young girls and boys over twelve months, preparing them for competitive entrance examinations in fields such as Engineering and Medicine, along with allied streams. Initially focusing on students who have completed class 12 with science streams and are preparing for JEE and NEET, the project will expand to include more fields in the future.

During this twelve-month period, Assam Rifles, in collaboration with NIEDO and Axis Bank at the Assam Rifles Complex in Zokhawsang, will provide comprehensive guidance, preparing students for the competitive world. The program goes beyond academic excellence, offering soft skills development, personality enhancement, critical life competencies, leadership training, personal conditioning, wellness programs, vocational training, and end-to-end grooming to nurture valuable human resources for the nation.

NIEDO representatives will soon initiate a five-point selection process, and their team will travel across Mizoram to identify deserving candidates.

The MOU signing ceremony at AR Ground, Aizawl, commenced with opening remarks by Brigadier Girish Upadhya, SM, VSM, DIG, HQ 23 Sector Assam Rifles. Maj Gen VK Nambiar, YSM, SM, IGAR (East), delivered a keynote address, shedding light on the project's operation and its significance. Dr. Rohit Srivastava, CEO of NIEDO, and Shri Rudrapriyo Ray, Advisor to IMO & Sustainability at Axis Bank, also addressed the audience. Teachers, students, officials, and other invitees witnessed this crucial milestone for educational development in the state.
