Mizoram Football Association has teamed up with the Reliance Foundation to launch the Naupang League, a grassroots program aimed at developing football talent in Mizoram
The league, which is currently divided into three age groups (U-7s, U-9s, and U-13s), began in November 2022 and covers four districts in Mizoram, including Aizawl, Champhai, Lunglei, and Kolasib. Each team plays 30 matches per season from November to May, with the league attracting a strong turnout since its launch.

However, many parents are sacrificing their jobs to ensure that their children can participate in the Naupang League, with one parent saying they had to sacrifice a day's salary to support their child's involvement. Meanwhile, coaches have seen an influx of interest in their academies, with the league helping to bring in more children to play competitive matches.

Anand, a coach who runs an academy training around 70 children, said that the league has helped to increase the number of children interested in football. He added that the kids study at his academy and take their exams in the Naupang League, and that the league has helped many young players participate in competitive matches.

The Naupang League is expected to have a significant impact on football in Mizoram, particularly for young players looking to develop their skills.
