Hundreds of refugees from Myanmar have reportedly arrived in Mizoram's Champhai district in recent days, fleeing their country's ongoing civil conflict and military bombing of communities
According to the Village-Level Committees on Myanmar Refugees (VLCMR), 820 refugees have arrived in their hamlet, with an additional 30 seeking asylum in Vaphai village.

The escalating civil conflict in Chin state between the Myanmar army, ethnic rebel groups, and local civilian resistance forces has forced many individuals to flee their homes, with Tatmadaw retaliation including artillery and aircraft bombardment on villages.

Mizoram has already taken in around 31,000 refugees since the military takeover in February 2021.
