Aizawl, 26 April (Zoram News): Mizoram Rural Development Minister, Pu Lalruatkima, and his team held a discussion with the Rural Development Minister of Puducherry, Shri AK Sai J Saravanan Kumar, and his team on the implementation of schemes under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) in Mizoram. The meeting was held at Aijal Club in Aizawl.
Shri AK Sai J Saravanan, on the other hand, congratulated Pu Lalruatkima and his team for achieving 100% target achievement under MGNREGA in the state. He praised the dedication of the officials, the cooperation from the beneficiaries, and the state government's commitment to poverty alleviation.
The joint discussion included a presentation by Pi Irene Lalhlimpuii, Additional Secretary (RD), followed by interactive sessions between the teams from the two states. The discussion concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Pu R.Lalthazuala, Director (RD).
MGNREGA is being implemented in 866-gram panchayats covering 2,14,384 job card holders in Mizoram. Currently, 2,29,685 persons in rural areas are earning income under the scheme. Presently, 18,945 works and minor works are already being initiated, and 13,887 works have been completed with an achievement rate of 73.3%.
