Aizawl, 22 April (Zoram News): Aizawl Battalion under the aegis of Headquarter 23 Sector Assam Rifles and Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) conducted Tree Plantation and Cleanliness Drive at Company Operating Base location of Mimbung, Ngopa and Hnahlan village on the occasion of Earth Day on 22 April 2023. A total of 35 civilians and 72 troops attended the same.
The tree plantation drive aimed to increase the green cover in the area near the Company Operating Base or village. The soldiers of Assam Rifles worked with the locals to identify suitable areas for planting saplings. The villagers were encouraged to participate in the plantation drive, and they were given information about the importance of tress and their role in maintaining the ecological balance.
Along with the tree plantation drive, a cleanliness drive was also organized in the villages. The aim of the cleanliness drive was to create awareness among people about the importance of keeping their surrounding clean and the impact of littering on the environment. The soldiers of Aizawl Battalion Assam Rifles worked with the locals to clean the area and make it a better place to live in.
Through this initiative, the Assam Rifles troops aimed to inspire people to take ownership of their surroundings and work towards maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
