Social media was flooded with videos showing slow traffic amidst heavy hail and dust storms. According to reports, the storm began at around 1.30 pm, with some areas receiving rain and hail that brought down branches and trees, affecting power lines as well.

The northern districts of Mizoram were the most affected, with local media outlet LPS Vision reporting that the state is expected to receive light rain until Sunday. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for Mizoram, forecasting rain and thunderstorms from March 15 to 17.

Skymet Weather also predicted a prolonged spell of rain approaching northeast India due to a Bay anticyclone pumping moisture over the region, and the passage of systems from the Western Himalayas causing rains over these areas.
