Legal Awareness to combat illegal drugs and alcohol in Kolasib district

Aizawl, 21 Feb (Zoram News): Legal Awareness Program was organized today at DC Conference Hall, Kolasib for all stakeholders, including NGOs and Offices, who are taking initiatives towards the eradication of illegal drugs and alcohol within Kolasib district.

Ms. Julie Lalrinzami, Judge, Fast Track Court and Ms. Cacy Malsawmtluangi Ralte, Chief Judicial Magistrate highlighted on the Act and laws related to seizure, arrest and punishment of persons involving in the sale, possession and misuse of illegal drugs and alcohol.

It was also mentioned that Police, Excise and NGOs needs to coordinate and work together to obtain more feasible result in their effort to eradicate drugs and alcohol and to rescue youths from misusing these substances. Officials from Police, Excise, District Jail, Hospital, Courts as well as representatives from Bar Association, YMA and Village Council attended the program.
