Chief Coordinator for India G20 meets with Chief Minister

Aizawl, Jan 28 (Zoram News): Chief Coordinator for India’s G20 Presidency in 2023 Harsh Vardhan Shringla and his team had a meeting with Chief Minister Zoramthanga at the latter's office today. Shringla previously served as Foreign Secretary of India, Ambassador to USA, High Commissioner to Bangladesh and Ambassador to Thailand.

There was a discussion on the ongoing preparation for the B20 meeting to be held in Aizawl on 2nd of March. A presentation was made on past meetings held in other cities, expectations of the government in terms of branding, showcasing cultural heritage and local goods, etc.

India's presidency began on 1 December 2022, leading up to the summit in the fourth quarter of 2023. The presidency handover ceremony was held as an intimate event, in which the G20 Presidency gavel was transferred from Indonesian President Joko Widodo to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the close of the Bali summit. Indonesia has presidency of 2022.

The delegates led by Chief Coordinator Harsh Vardhan Shringla arrived in Mizoram yesterday where they inspected the proposed meeting venue at Mizoram University and held meetings with officials from the state government.
