Assam Rifles conduct heart welness camp at Champhai

Champhai, 9 March (zoramnews): Serchhip Battalion, Assam Rifles of Headquarter 23 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), organised first of its kind Heart Wellness Camp in Mizoram at Champhai on 10 March 2022.

The camp was conducted with the aim of providing cardiology related advice and medical facilities to the local population as the area being addressed lack the specialists required for addressing emergency and serious cases .

A team of three cardio specialists headed by Mr Vivek Jawli, Chief cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgeon, Chairman of Fortis group of hospitals. A very renowed person in his field, he has also been the President of Indian Association of Cardio Vascular and Thoracic surgeons (IACTS) since 2008.

The team arrived at Aizawl on 08 March 2022 and further moved to Champhai on 09 March 2022. Inauguration of the camp.The screening camp was inaugurated by Brigadier Digvijay Singh, SM, DIG 23 Sector Assam Rifles at YMA Kahwarat ground, Champhai.

The district administration officials including the SP and DC of Champhai, NGO office bearers and the Ex-servicemen of Champhai were also present in the event. The Pipe band display by 8 AR was followed by Interaction by DIG & Doctors with Patients &Locals.

The team of Doctors will be carrying out Cardio evaluation of 130 pre screened patients and in addition will perform Open heart Bypass surgeries for selected patients at Trinity hospital, Aizawl. The proactive assistance and facilities for surgery provided by Trinity hospital under Dr Lalrin Tluangajahau enabled the venture to be taken to a smooth conclusion.

The complete project has been covered under AR civic action program and is a blessing in disguise for the locals. Moreover, this medical camp is the first of its kind in the entire NE where such renowed experts have come and helped the locals.

Assam Rifles also provided transportation facilities like bus and ambulance to facilitate movement of villagers from far flung off places. The people expressed special gratitude to AR for their selfless service.

Assam Rifles has once again proved its commitment towards development of remote areas of Mizoram keeping the Motto of Friends of the Hill People as its guiding principle. Local Civil administration and populace of Champhai and neighbouring villages appreciated the efforts of Assam Rifles for the services rendered.
