Joint Press Briefing on Serchhip Bye Election

Serchhip, the 23rd March, 2021: A joint Press Briefing on the matter of 26 Serchhip ST AC Bye Election is held at DC Meeting Hall by District Magistrate Shri. Kumar Abhishek, IAS, who is also a Returning Officer of the election and Shri. Stephen Lalrinawma, MPS, Superintendent of Police today.

In this briefing Kumar Abhishek highlighted the programme of election scheduled by the Election Commission of India and their preparedness to hold peaceful free and fair bye election. He mentioned that Model Code of Conduct is enforced from the date of announcement that is 16th March, 2021. On the same day, three Flying Squads, two Video Surveillance team and one Video Viewing Team were deployed. Three Static Surveillance team will be operational from today onwards. In addition to it, Media Certification and Monitoring Committee and Expenditure Monitoring Cell have been operated since 16th March, 2021. All direction related to Model Code of Conduct are already been brought to notice of all concerned. There are 29 Polling Stations in Serchhip Assembly Constituency out of which 27 are urban and 2 are in rural areas. All the requisite trainings with respect to Model

Code of Conduct, Election Expenditure related and nomination process has already been imparted to all Political Parties. Identification of all election related personnel have been done. All SOPs and direction with respect to Covid19 pandemic will be strictly followed. Nodal Health Officer has been appointed for Covid19 measures. He also pointed out that all Covid19 related SOPs issued by Election Commission of India and State government shall be observed in the bye election. In addition postal ballot facility shall be extended to the following persons: Electors who are marked as Persons with Disabilities (PWD), electors above the age of 80 years and electors who are Covid19 positive, suspect and in quarantine (home & institutional)

Shri. Stephen Lalrinawma, SP, Serchhip also highlighted various security measures that have been taken so far and other important security plans for the election.

District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police are accompanied today by Shri. Lalmuansanga Ralte, Addl. DEO, Shri. Amol Srivastava, IAS, ARO, Shri. Vanlalhmachhuana, EO, Shri. K. Saitluanga, MIS, Nodal Officer for Media, and other important election Officials.
