Church youth clean Churachandpur town

CCpur, March 08 2020: In an unusual gesture, youth of Churches affiliated to MPCS step out of their comfort zone and took to the streets of Churachandpur town to clean up the piling garbages on street corners under the theme 'Clean Lamka, Healthy Lamka', Friday.

The Central Khristian Khanglai Pawl (CKKP), a youth wing of Mizoram Presbyterian Church Synod Manipur Area has initiated the drive as part of their 11th General Conference currently held at Mata Village.

The youth conference which began on March 5 will continue till Sunday.

The participants drawn up from members attending the conference started the cleanliness drive from Churachandpur Police Station in two groups.

One group head towards the north of the town while the other heads for the south.

A truckload of garbage was removed from the streets during the exercise, which lasted for three hours.

Addressing the participants, Rev R Lalhmingsanga said, "maintaining a clean and hygienic lifestyle and locality not only beautify the places but also keeps the residents healthy.

It is the responsibility of all including the Church to rally behind the Government's initiative to ensure cleanliness in the country".

Slogans and placards calling for a clean and healthy Lamka were articulated and displayed during the drive.
