Man apologises after 'threat' to kill Mizoram Chief Minister

Aizawl, 22 April : A man in Mission Vengthlang North here today formally apologised for expressing his wish to kill Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla and his wife Lal Riliani on Facebook.

Thanhranga, who goes by Mathana Pachuau on Facebook, was arrested on Monday night for posting on a Facebook group Zoram Politics Group his wish to murder the Chief Minister.

He was produced in the Chief Judicial Magistrate's court in Aizawl the following day was remanded in police custody for three days. He was later referred to a psychiatrist.

He was arrested on charges of criminal intimidation under Section 506 IPC.

Posting his apology on the group today, Mathana said alcohol and his own stupidity were the main factors behind his post. He prayed for the forgiveness of the Chief Minister and his wife "in the name of God."

He also expressed gratitude to the police and the court, who instead of sending him to jail, brought him to a psychiatrist.UNI ZS AKM PY AS1744
