Sarabjit Singh clinically dead?

According to some media reports, there have been hints that Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh is clinically dead. He has been battling for life since April 26 after some jail inmates attacked him inside the prison.

Reportedly, Dalbir Kaur has been asked for permission to remove the ventilator support. Sources revealed that Dalbir Kaur is coming back to India via Wagah Border on Tuesday to seek medical advice. She was in Pakistan to visit him at Lahore hospital. Dalbir told a leading daily that she is not satisfied with the medical treatment provided to Sarabjit in Lahore.

While an Indian journalist in Pakistan Rezaul Hasan Laskar tweeted that the doctors treating Sarabjit Singh have said that his condition has deteriorated, Mahmood Shaukat, the head of a four-member medical board who is supervising Sarabjit's treatment, later, confirmed the news. Shaukat said that top neurosurgeons and physicians are providing Sarabjit the best treatment to save his life.

Sarabjit's sister on Tuesday demanded that Indian doctors should be called in to assist in his treatment. SC/ST Commission Deputy Chairman Raj Kumar Verka also informed that Sarabjit Singh is dead.

While India officially sought release of Sarabjit Singh, who is presently in a state of deep coma, his health is deteriorating continuously.

Sarabjit suffered critical head injuries and a bone fracture when he was assaulted by five other prisoners with bricks and plates in Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore on Friday. The accused have confessed to attacking Sarabjit with an intention to kill him. They say they sharpened the end of spoons to attack Sarabjit.

Sarabjit was convicted for alleged involvement in a string of bombings in Pakistan's Punjab that killed 14 people in 1990.
