Governor interact with NIT Mizoram officials

Aizawl, 31 May (Zoram News): Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati had a meeting with the heads of the National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT), Aizawl, at the Raj Bhavan today.

During the meeting, Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati emphasized the significance of NIELIT as an institute of national importance in imparting IT-related education and skill development to the youth, aligning with the Skill India and Digital India initiatives. He stressed the importance of IT skills in enhancing employability and job prospects for individuals.

Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati inquired about the annual activities, courses, programs, student intake, infrastructure, faculty, achievements, as well as the challenges faced by NIELIT, Aizawl and its satellite center in Lunglei.

In response, Shri T. Gunendra Singh, Director-in-Charge of NIELIT, Aizawl, along with his team, provided detailed presentations using PowerPoint slides. After the presentation, Governor Dr. Hari Babu suggested that the NIELIT officials submit their requirements in writing for timely resolution. He encouraged them to continue their efforts in skilling students in IT through various formal, non-formal, short-term, and long-term courses, maximizing the annual intake capacity.

According to the presentation, NIELIT has an annual intake capacity of approximately 3000 students. Since its establishment, the institute has trained 2883 students in formal courses, 2642 students in non-formal courses, and 56025 students in short-term courses.
