Assam Rifles Rescues Mizoram Students Amid Violence in Manipur

Aizawl, 8 May (Zoram News): Amid the violence and unrest in Manipur, Assam Rifles has come to the rescue of 37 students from Mizoram who were studying at Central Agriculture University.

The successful evacuation operation conducted on May 8, 2023, saw the safe evacuation of the students to Imphal airport. Out of the 37 students, 31 have already reached Mizoram, while the remaining 6 will be transported subsequently.

The students were escorted by the Assam Rifles and dropped off safely at Imphal airport. The remaining six students, who have their flights on May 9, were taken to the Army rescue camp and will be dropped off at the airport as per their flight schedule.

Meanwhile, Mizoram MP (LS) C Lalrosanga had a telephonic conversation with Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pande to discuss the ongoing violence in Manipur. During the conversation, MP C. Lalrosanga emphasized the need to gain the trust and confidence of the tribal communities in Manipur.

Assuring the MP, Army Chief General Manoj Pande said that he would convey the message to his officers to handle the situation sensitively to gain the trust and confidence of the public.
