Chief Commissioner of Customs discusses measures for improving GST compliance with Mizoram Governor

Aizawl, 26 April (Zoram News): Shri Yogendra Garg, Chief Commissioner of CGST, CEX & Customs, Guwahati Zone and his team met Governor of Mizoram Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati at Raj Bhavan this afternoon.

Shri. Yogendra Garg apprised the Hon'ble Governor his purpose of visiting the state and also reported his findings after his inspection. He then briefed the Governor about the current state of Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection in the state. He suggested some measures and improvements that need to be introduced.

Shri. Yogendra Garg pointed out that the compliance of GST was below the standards in the state, particularly among the local contractors. He insisted that there is still a lack of awareness among large sections of people and benefits of GST, amongst others.

Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati and the Commissioner further discussed the measures needed to be introduced in the state for improving the state GST. In this connection, proper training for GST officials of the state by the central government and conducting more outreach education programs were suggested as the immediate requirements. During this interaction, Export Processing Zones (EPZ), Special Economic Zones (SEZ), the need for improving working conditions for employees, measures needed for boosting the productivity of the state and other important topics were also discussed at length.
