Discussions for swift implementation of AMRUT 2.0 with Deputy Chief Minister

Aizawl, 22 March (zoramnews): Deputy Chief Minister Tawnluia on Monday held a consultative meeting to discuss the implementation of AMRUT 2.0. The meeting was held with concerned department officials.

At the meeting, discussions were held on how clean water can be supplied to 23 towns in Mizoram and initiatives to be taken to harvest rainwater and increase water sources. Discussions were also held on making a 24x7 water supply available for residents of Aizawl city as well as a better liquid management system for the city.

It was decided that a District Level Monitoring & Advisory Committee and a Start-Up India Screening Committee will be constituted to ensure speedy implementation of Amrut 2.0.

AMRUT 2.0 was launched on October 1, 2021, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The main aim of Amrut 2.0 is to provide basic services (e.g. water supply, sewerage, urban transport) to households and build amenities in cities which will improve the quality of life for all, especially the poor and the disadvantaged is a national priority.

The purpose of Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) is to Ensure that every household has access to a tap with an assured supply of water and a sewerage connection.

Increase the amenity value of cities by developing greenery and well maintained open spaces (e.g. parks) and Reduce pollution by switching to public transport or constructing facilities for non-motorized transport (e.g. walking and cycling). All these outcomes are valued by citizens, particularly women, and indicators and standards have been prescribed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA ) in the form of Service Level Benchmarks (SLBs).
