Mizoram announces partial lockdown in Aizawl municipal area till 17 September

Aizawl, 10 Sept 2020 (Zoram News): Mizoram Govt has announced total lockdown within the municipal area of Aizawl with immediate effect from 00:00 am hours of 11 September this month till 23:59 of 17 September 2020.

An official statement said the there has been detection of a significant number of positive cases from positive contacts and unknown sou,rces recently, and the
local transmission rate is becoming a grave concern for the State Government, and it is necessary to carry out extensive contact tracing; the risk of community spread is extremely high at this juncture, and it is considered necessary to impose temporary restrictions on movement of persons in public places  in Aizawl Municipal Area in order to facilitate contact tracing, slr.rveillance, testing and to reduce the local transmission rate thereby containing further spread of the disease.

Mizoram has reported 141 new COVID19 cases, taking the state’s tally to 1,333. The total positive patients registered in Mizoram so far include 1,108 males and 225 females. So far a total of 750 patients have recovered from the disease in the state.  Mizoram currently has 583 active patients while 2 positive cases migrated from the state.  The state is yet to report any COVID19 death.

Officials said with this order, no entry and outgoing movement will be allowed through the periphery of Aizawl municipal area. However, movements allowed for essential services including police, medical staff, media, milk distribution.
