Aizawl, 1 Sept (Zoram News): In Mizoram, a three-day assembly session began today. When the session began, Chief Minister Zoramthanga made obituary references to the former President of India Bharat Ratna Pranab Mukherjee and five former legislators, who passed away recently. There was no Governor’s address today.
Mizoram State Legislative Assembly today passed a bill- The Mizoram (Containment and Prevention of the Spread of COVID-19) Bill, 2020. Introducing the bill, State Health Minister Dr R Lalthangliana said, since detection of the first case of COVID-19 in the country, several new cases are detected daily, despite numerous efforts of the Govt are on for flattening the curve. He said that as such the State govt observes, there is an urgent need to contain COVID-19 in the interest of public health and safety.
