Lawngtlai, 25 Feb 2020 (Zoram News): Presiding Officers for general election to the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC)'s 88 village councils (VCs) and by-election to the Lai Autonomous District Council (LADC)'s Council Veng VC scheduled to be held on 13th March were trained at DC Conference Hall, Lawngtlai, today.
A total of 123 persons were appointed for PROs. Election Officer Pu Lalremruata Sailo and AERO Pu Hmingmawizuala imparted the training.
Yesterday was the last date for filing candidature. All the nominations were scrutinised today and withdrawal of candidature can be done till 1 PM tomorrow.
The CADC is divided into 18 sectors while LADC is made another sector. Sector Officers were already appointed for these 19 sectors.
In the 88 village councils of CADC, there are 32,213 voters, with 428 general seats and 88 reserved seats for women, totalling to 516 seats. In the Council Veng Village Council of LADC where by-election to one vacant seat is being held, there are 1,298 total voters.
