ONGC Scholarships for Mizo students - Apply by March 5

ONGC Foundation has invited applications under the Scholarship Schemes for (i) OBC Category and (ii) Economically Weaker General Category Students, for 2019-20.

A total of 500 scholarships will be given in each scheme worth Rs.48,000/- per annum to meritorious OBC and Economically weaker General category students pursuing first year professional courses in Engineering & Medical stream and Master's degree course in Business Administration, Geology or Geophysics. Of the total, 50% scholarships are reserved for girl students.

Eligibility, number of scholarships and duration of the scholarship are as follows:
(i) Engineering: Eligibility-10+2; number of Scholarships-300; for 4 years (ii) MBBS: 10+2; 50, 4 years (iii) MBA: Graduation; 50; 2 years (iv) Masters in Geology/ Geophysics: Graduation; 100, 2 years.

A total of 100 scholarships will be distributed in each Zone. The distribution of States/UTs amongst the Zones is as follows:

Zone-1 (North): J&K, Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh

Zone-2 (West): Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Daman & Diu, Dadar & Nagar; Haveli

Zone-3 (North East) Assam, Sikkim, Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura

Zone-4 (East) Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal

Zone-5 (South) Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Pudducherry, Lakshdweep, Andaman & Nicobar Islands

The specific zone where a student can apply for this scholarship depends on the location of the University/Institute/College in which the student was studying for the qualifying examination.

Eligibility: Applicant should be undergoing a full-time regular course. Applicant should have secured minimum 60% marks or an OGPA/CGPA of 6.0 in 10 points scale of grading system, in the concerned qualifying examination. The Gross annual family income from all sources must be less than Rs.2 Lakhs. Applicant should not be more than 30 years of age as on 1st January 2020.

Application: Applications can be submitted online at https://www.ongcscholar.org/. Complete application with all the supporting documents as mentioned in the application form duly certified and attested by their Head/Principal/ Dean of the Institute/ College/University need to be uploaded and same required to be shared in hard copies, should reach the designated office of ONGC as per the details given in application Format. The last date of receipt of application is 5th March 2020.

List of documents required to be submitted by the applicants is given in the Notification.

Selection: Selection of candidate will be made on the basis of aggregate marks obtained in the qualifying examination prescribed for each eligible course of study. In case of students having equal marks in the qualifying examination, students with lower family income will be selected. Preference shall be given to students from below poverty line (BPL) families and other students shall be considered only if sufficient number of students from BPL families fulfilling the eligibility criteria is not available. The selected candidate must not be availing the benefits of any other scholarship or financial assistance from any other source.

Disbursement: The scholarship amount will be paid on yearly basis after completion of the academic year. The amount of scholarship will be deposited directly in the bank account of students through ECS facility. Once awarded, the scholarship shall be continued every year till the completion of the course subject to promotion of the student to the next year of his/her course. Students need to maintain a minimum of 60% or 6 grade points out of 10 in each year’s semester examination to ensure the continuation of the scholarship.

Scholarship shall be discontinued if the candidate is not promoted to the next year by their respective Institute/College/University. For the continuation of the scholarship, the students will have to send an online ‘Application for renewal’ in the prescribed format. In case the student opts for any different scholarship subsequently after award of ONGC Foundation Scholarship, he/she should have to refund the entire scholarship amount received from ONGC Foundation.
