State Police Officers gets training on ‘Anti – Human Trafficking’

Aizawl, March 25: Mizoram Police and Delhi-based NGO Shakti Vahini on 22 March organized one-day training on ‘Anti – Human Trafficking’ here at Aijal Club Conference Hall in which State Police Officers received training from experts.

State DGP Thianghlima Pachuau, IPS inaugurated the training which was attended by the 50 State Police Officers- from the rank of ASI to Dy. SP.

Chief Guest at the training inauguration function the State DGP Thianghlima Pachuau said that the Mizos had before now neglected Human Trafficking out of ignorance but now awakened.

While asking the people to take caution more and more, DGP advised the State Police Officers to not treat the victims of human trafficking like wrongdoers and not disseminate information regarding the latter’s identity and story but instead help them with sympathy in order that they may live a new life.

Also speaking at the training inauguration function which was chaired by DIG (Trg) C. Laldina IPS, DIG (CID) Joseph Lalchhuana IPS, highlighted how Mizoram has so far tackled the menace of Human Trafficking. He emphasized the crucial role of the Police.

The Delhi-based NGO Shakti Vahini, the trainer of State Police Officers today, had rendered great help to the Mizoram Police in the rescue of Mizoram women who were victims of Human Trafficking in different cities of the country before now.
