Mizoram Governor Inspects Tuirial Hydroelectric Project

Aizawl, 12 March: Mizoram Governor Lt Gen. Nirbhay Sharma (Retd.) on Friday inspected the ongoing 60MW Tuirial Hydroelectric Project (Tuirial HEP) by NEEPCO.

He was accompanied by Secretary to Governor, Rodney L. Ralte and Er. L. Pachuau, E-in-C, Power & Electricity Department (P&E), and was received at the Project Site by M.K. Sharma, Executive Director, Project Hydro, NEEPCO Office, Guwahai, P.K. Bora, Head Of Project, Tuirial NEEPCO and NEEPCO engineers. Kolasib DC H.Lalengmawia, Kolasib SP C. Lalzahngoa and District Heads of Departments were also present on the occasion.

The Governor Lt Gen. Nirbhay Sharma (Retd.), guided by the engineers, inspected the Dam site, Chute, Spill Way and other important project sites during which he was informed that 82% of the work target at Tuirial HEP has been completed.

The Governor told NEEPCO leaders to use to give their progress report, to have good cooperation with Kolasib District Administration and the people of the District, and also to not neglect the benefit of the locals. The Governor also urged the NEEPCO Engineers to complete the project in time saying that Tuirial HEP is important for Mizoram and that the people are eagerly waiting.

NEEPCO Officials on their part apprised the Governor of their need of Telecom Network Improvement and road renovation between Saiphai and Saipum. The Governor in reply said that he would look into the same. NEEPCO leaders said that they plan to complete Unit- I 30 MW by September, 2016 and also expect to complete Unit – II 30 MW within 2017 Financial Year.
