Three people held for drugs trafficking Aizawl, Jan 20: Three people including one non-tribal have been arrested for allegedly trafficking drugs, police said Wednesday. Acting on tip off, Special Narcotic Cell of Mizoram Police and Supply Reduction Service (SRS), the anti-narcotics squad constituted by the central committee of YMA on Tuesday night seized 30.66 grams of heroin from Faki Hotel at Thuampui locality in Aizawl. Police said that the contraband worth over Rs 1.6 lakh in the local market was seized from two drugs peddlers identified as Saraf Uddin (Raju-a) of Patharkandi, Karimganj, who was the hotel manager and Vanramngaii of Kikawn locality in Lunglei. Earlier on Sunday, Mizoram Excise and Narcotics department’s Anti Narcotic Squad had arrested Vanramngaii for possessing contraband. Police said that the owner Vanramngaii hided the contraband with Raju and asked him to sell it. However, the two smugglers were arrested last night by SRS before the contraband were peddled to drugs users, police sources added. In another seizure, SRS also seized substantial grams of heroin from Roluahpuii of Zohnuai resident in Vaivakawn area on Tuesday. The arrested people were booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
