Financial problem in State overstated: Chief Minister

Aizawl, Jan 13: It is thankful that worry people are having because of the overstated financial problem teaches the lesson of economical use of money, CM Lal Thanhawla said today in the High Level Meeting on Financial Resources at his office Cabinet Room.

The government indeed has financial problem, but not as much as it is said, CM said, adding, money is there to spend as per necessity. The CM-led meeting reviewed the financial condition of the Mizoram government and discussed how the available fund may be utilized in the most equitable manner.

The meeting studied how NITI Aayog has changed the system of allocation of fund for each state and the allocation of fund by 14th Finance Commission and also how the State government may receive fund. The meeting acknowledged that with the initiative of Finance Minister Lalsawta the debt of the government has also much decreased and the problem in K-Deposit has also lessened.

It was mentioned that the condition of Mizoram is among those in a better condition in comparison to other States. The High Level Meeting underlined the need to invest the money available with the government in the best manner. Regarding market of the farmers’ produces in the State, the meeting discussed the viability of cooperation between the government and the individual farmers.

As for the reason for high price of the vegetables produced in the State, the meeting pointed to the high expense in reaching the market, therefore it underlined the need of more link roads. It also underlined the need of selective cultivation so as to have export quality produces.
