1109 vehicles seized and fined Rs. 4,13,151 during Zero Tolerance drive

Aizawl, Jan 10: As many as 81109 vehicles have been seized and were fined Rs. 4,13,151 for violation of traffic rules during Zero Tolerance drive launched by traffic police in association with enforcement staff of transport department in the capital in December last , traffic officials said.

Of the apprehended 1109 vehicles, two wheelers contributed the highest number at 766 followed by LMV at 158. The total fine realized from two wheelers during no tolerance drive was Rs. 2,74,650 and that of LMV was Rs. 69,801. In the third comes taxi with 146 being seized and fined Rs. 56,700.

According to traffic officials, 394 being the highest, have been arrested for improper number while 299 have been arrested for parking in no parking zone and 194 have been arrested for being without driving license. There were 90 cases of disobedience of traffic signal and 165 cases of violation of Motor vehicle rules.
